I grew up in Alpena, Michigan before going to undergrad at Florida State. I spent my last year of college at Hiroshima University in Japan. After that, I counted fish on commercial fishing boats off California and Alaska. Then I worked for the IPHC halibut surveys. After that, I started grad school at Dalhousie University in Halifax with Ram Myers. I spent some time working on fishery interactions with stock abundance before starting work on leatherback turtles with Mike James. My thesis was An Analysis of Migratory Cues and Potential Tagging Effects in the Leatherback Sea Turtle. After my masters, I began working with sequencing data and bioinformatics at the University of Pennsylvania. I recently began school at UPenn hoping to get my PhD in computational biology and genomics. A pdf of my CV is available here.
