"Some guessed they were just for aerodynamics"

Unless someone doesn't know "blowing" is a verb that has sometime to to be interpreted, you can't imagine aerodynamics has something to do here. Hydrodynamics would be closer.

About genetics, I remember how much a human being is incidental and programmed by the unique combination of its dna, with the consequence that the more combinations you have, the more the possibility to discover a genius, or someone with 3 heads, is important. This is also valid if you increase the period of time you look at the exceptions. The more you try, the more you are close to find what you are looking for.

Same for animals. This led to the "Infinite monkey Theorem" where monkeys typing randomly on typewriters can well create a literature masterpiece (or a nice gravatar, if you give them brushes), that's supposed to be a matter of how many monkeys (and how many typewriters), and how many time...

This theorem was clearly invalidated in recent years after the test was done in real life with hundredths millions of people creating zillions of web pages. No masterpiece.
